What to do if you can't access the property at check-in

Follow these instructions below if you have issues getting into your stay. We're here to help!

Recheck your check-in details

Your host typically sends check-in instructions, like a door code, key location, or lockbox combination, about 24–48 hours before your arrival. They usually go to the email address you used to book, so check there first, including spam and junk folders. Your host may also send this info via text message. Your booking confirmation also has the property address and your host's contact info. See How to find your check-in details for exactly where to look.

Contact your host directly

If you've checked for your instructions and you're still stuck, contact your host directly using the phone number or email on your booking confirmation and in your booking details on Whimstay. Your host knows the property best. A wrong code, a stuck lockbox, or a mixed-up entrance are usually quick fixes once they know what's happening.

Reach out to us

If you can't reach your host, or they can't get you in, reach out to us at help.whimstay.com. We'll work with you to help contact your host from there to get you into your stay.

💡 TIP: If you can, take a photo of the door, lockbox, or keypad and note the time. That record helps us and your host sort out what happened if it needs a closer look.

For anything that comes up once you're in, see What to do if there's an issue during your stay.
