If you bought travel protection and have second thoughts, you can cancel it for a full refund within a short window after purchase, called the free-look period. This refund runs separately from your booking refund. Here's how it works.
The free-look period
Travel protection has its own refund window, the free-look period, during which you can get a full refund of what you paid for the protection. The length varies by state, so it's not a fixed number of days. Check your Generali policy documents for your free-look deadline. It applies only if your stay hasn't started yet.
This window is independent of your booking's cancellation policy.
Travel protection refunds are separate from your booking
If you cancel your booking, your travel protection isn't automatically refunded with it. The protection cost isn't included in your booking refund or in any Whimstay credit. To get it back, request the travel protection refund separately, within your free-look window.
How to request a refund
Reach out to us at help.whimstay.com and let us know:
The booking the protection was purchased for
That you'd like to cancel the travel protection, and whether you're keeping or canceling the booking itself
We'll confirm eligibility based on your purchase date and check-in date, and process the refund with Generali.
After the free-look window
Once the free-look period closes, travel protection isn't refundable. Your policy stays active, and you can still file a claim if a covered event happens.
