Does Whimstay offer travel protection?

Yes, Whimstay offers travel protection through Generali to help cover unexpected cancellations and other events that can affect your trip. It's optional, and you choose it at checkout, or within a short window after you book.

Travel protection options

Eligibility depends on several factors. To see if your stay qualifies, select "Continue to book" on the property you're interested in and you'll see all available options for your stay.

Travel Protection Plan: up to 100% reimbursement for covered reasons like illness, delays, or injury.

Cancel For Any Reason coverage: everything in the Travel Protection Plan, plus up to 75% if you cancel for any reason.

When you can buy it

  • At checkout — the easiest option. The cost is added to your booking total.

  • After booking — there's a limited window tied to your payment timing. See When you can buy travel protection for the exact rules.

What's covered

At checkout, select See plan details under either option to see the specifics. The Travel Protection Plan lists:

  • Helps protect your vacation investment up to 100% for cancellation for covered reasons.

  • Coverage for a covered illness, injury, or death in the family or a traveling companion.

  • Coverage for covered natural disasters, hurricanes, travel delays, and more covered events.

Cancel For Any Reason coverage includes all of that, plus up to 75% of the penalty amount when you cancel for any reason. You must cancel at least 48 hours before check-in, and all other travelers on the trip cancel too.
