If you list your property on more than one website, syncing your calendars prevents double bookings. When a traveler books on any of your connected websites, those dates automatically get blocked on the others, keeping your availability accurate everywhere.
This is a per-property setup. You'll do it once for each property you list on Whimstay.
How calendar sync works
Each property has two-way iCal sync with the websites you connect. There are two steps:
Import your website's calendar into Whimstay. Bookings on that website will block the same dates on Whimstay.
Export your Whimstay calendar to that website. Bookings on Whimstay will block the same dates on the website.
You'll do both steps for every website you want to keep in sync.
💡 TIP: Make sure the calendar link you copy ends in .ics. If it doesn't, the sync won't work
💡 TIP: If you use a property management system (PMS) like Hospitable or Guesty Lite, and all your websites are already connected through your PMS, you only need to sync your PMS calendar with Whimstay. One connection covers every website your PMS manages.
Where to find calendar sync
You'll see calendar sync in two places:
During listing setup
When you set up a new listing, you'll see the calendar sync step. Calendar sync is a required step in setup, so you'll connect all your calendars for the property here.
After your listing is set up
You can update your calendar connections even after listing setup.
Log into Whimstay and go to your Listings
Open the property you want to sync and click Edit listing
Go to the Calendar sync tab
If you use a PMS (Hospitable or Guesty Lite)
Connect your PMS once per property and you're done! Your PMS already aggregates the calendars from every website you've connected to it.
Step 1: Import your PMS calendar
In your PMS (Hospitable or Guesty Lite), find and copy the calendar link for the property you're syncing. Double-check it's for the correct property!
Back on Whimstay, go through the guided steps under Calendar sync to add the calendar link
Follow the instructions and paste the calendar link when prompted

Step 2: Export your Whimstay calendar
Continue following the steps and copy your Whimstay calendar link
Go to your PMS and add it as a new external calendar for the property
Make sure to save in your PMS, otherwise the calendar won't connect
Back on Whimstay, select Add calendar to finalize
Once both links are connected, you're all set for this property. Bookings on any of your connected websites will automatically block the same dates everywhere else.
If you connect each website individually
If you don't use a PMS, you'll connect each website directly. You can connect Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com calendars from the list, or add any other website by selecting Other.
Repeat the steps below for every website you list on.
Step 1: Import your website's calendar
Log into your website (Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, or other) and find and copy the calendar link for the property you're syncing. Double-check it's for the correct property!
Back on Whimstay, go through the guided steps under Calendar sync to add the calendar link
Follow the instructions and paste the calendar link when prompted

Step 2: Export your Whimstay calendar to that website
Continue following the instructions and copy your Whimstay calendar link
Go to your website's calendar settings and paste the Whimstay link as a new external calendar
Make sure to save in your website's settings, otherwise the calendar won't connect
Back on Whimstay, select Add calendar to finalize
Once both links are connected, this website is synced. Repeat the steps for every other website you list on. Once you've connected all of them, bookings on any one will automatically block the same dates on the others.
Before you finish, double-check:
All your websites are connected. If you list on Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com (and don't use a PMS), all three need to be added. Missing one means a traveler could still double-book on it.
Each calendar link is for the correct property. If you have multiple listings, it's easy to copy a link from the wrong one. Verify the property before pasting.
You saved in both places. Both Whimstay and the other website need a save click. If either is missed, the connection won't work.
Repeat for every property
Calendars are connected per property, not per account. If you have multiple properties on Whimstay, you'll need to set up the calendar sync for each one. If you list on multiple websites, be sure to add all of them for every property.
