A few things can shift the total between when you first look and when you finish checkout. Here's what typically changes it.
Optional add-ons
If you add travel protection during checkout, it's included in your total, so the amount on your confirmation can be different than the base price you first saw on the property page before adding travel protection. See Reading your Whimstay receipt for what each line on your total means.
Currency and foreign transaction fees
All prices on Whimstay are shown and charged in US dollars, no matter where the property is located. If your card or bank account is based outside the US, your bank converts the charge to your local currency and may add its own foreign transaction fee. That fee comes from your bank, not from Whimstay, and the amount can shift slightly with the exchange rate at the moment your bank processes the charge. See What currency does Whimstay use?
Prices can update while you're deciding
Property pricing comes from the host's calendar and syncs to Whimstay frequently. If you looked at a property earlier and come back later, the total you see might reflect a newer sync from the host than the one you started with.
Your dates affect your discount
Whimstay's last-minute savings often apply to stays booked within 30 days of check-in. If you change your check-in date partway through checkout, or enough time passes that your booking falls outside that window, the discount applied to your total changes too. See How can I get a discount on my booking?
Guest count and pet fees
Additional guest fees and pet fees are set by the host and can sometimes apply per traveler or per pet beyond what's included with the property. If you update your party size or add a pet after your first look at a property, your total updates to match.
