For hosts: How to get more bookings on Whimstay

Whimstay is a marketplace that helps travelers discover amazing properties at great prices. The bigger your discount, the higher your property ranks in search results — and the more travelers see your listing.

Raise your last-minute discount

Pricing is a major factor in how Whimstay ranks listings and how travelers search for listings. A higher last-minute payout discount means a higher placement in search results, which puts your property in front of more travelers.

We recommend at least 20%. If your calendar has open nights and you're not seeing the activity you want, raising your discount is the most direct lever you have. Set it on the Pricing & availability tab in Edit listing.

Add or raise your extended-calendar discount

The last-minute discount only applies to bookings made within 30 days of check-in. For travelers searching further out, you can add an extended-calendar discount. If you haven't set one, your listing won't appear with a discount in their results.

Setting an extended calendar discount, even a modest one, makes your property visible to travelers planning trips weeks or months ahead. It's set in the same place as your last-minute discount.

Show up on Google Vacation Rentals

Whimstay distributes published listings to Google Vacation Rentals, so your property can appear when travelers search for vacation rentals on Google directly. There's nothing to set up — it happens automatically once you publish.

It takes about two weeks after your listing goes live to show up in Google Vacation Rentals results. After that, you have a second search surface working for you alongside the Whimstay marketplace itself.

Make your listing stand out

Once travelers find your property, your listing has to do the work to convert them.

  • Photos. Use high-quality, well-lit images that show every space, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and outdoor areas. The first photo is the one travelers see in search results.

  • A clear description. Lead with what makes your property memorable, then cover the practical details: layout, number of beds, what's nearby, what's included.

  • Answer the questions travelers ask. Pet policy, parking, Wi-Fi speed, family-friendliness, accessibility — if travelers commonly ask about it before booking, put the answer in your listing so they don't have to.

Quick checks if you're still not seeing activity

  • Is your listing published? Open Listings in your host dashboard and make sure it's not unlisted. If it is, click Publish listing under the three-dot Actions menu.

  • Are your calendars synced correctly? Calendar sync issues can result in low visibility — see Sync your calendars.

  • Do you have open nights in the next 30 days? Whimstay's last-minute discount only applies inside that window — if your calendar is full through other channels, there aren't many open nights for Whimstay to fill. If that's the case, add an extended-calendar discount for better visibility.
